I am having the same issue, and yes I have followed the instructions for Typescript support.
FYI I am using IntelliJ.

You should be able to force types by passing a generic, if you know the shape of your state:
useGlobal<GlobalStateInterface>('isLoading')
The TypeScript onboarding docs should do this for you, so it may be an issue with IntelliJ (or some other IDEs) not loading your .d.ts files. I believe your tsconfig.json file may contribute to this if your .d.ts file is not located in any of its included directories.
