@notrab Thank you! I was unaware of the .next build defaults. I resolved the issue by leaving Netlify's public directory empty and by installing the netlify-plugin-nextjs, as per your suggestions. 🚀

Did you change the configuration for the build directory to be public also? Next outputs to .next by convention.
The public repo is just for any assets that will be transferred to that output directly.
Also, unrelated, but you may need the Next plugin for Netlify if you want to use that as your CDN.
