@swopt Hi there, I am not at all familiar with NativeScript so I cannot confirm if this is the actual problem or not.
Given the encoding of the error message, it is kinda hard to understand the exact error. It looks like the NS compiler (does it use TSC?) expects something in the
Wildcard
type definition that is not there because it cannot correctly parse the type. TheWildcard
type uses Template Literal Types to recursively map an event type to provide full TypeScript inference support for event wildcards.Template Literal Types (TLS) were introduced in TypeScript 4.1 (ref). The provided package.json states
"typescript": ">=3.9.2 <4.1.0"
as a dev dependency and therefore does not support TLS.Wildcards are IHMO part of what makes the Pub/Sub Pattern in XSystem awesome, so removing the type is not really an option. Are you able to upgrade to TypeScript v4.1 or greater? I think it would solve the problem.
Thanks for your feedback. After some testing, I can confirm the issue is indeed caused by incompatible typescript version. The compiler no longer throws the error after I updated my typescript to a version greater than 4.1. I'll close this issue now. Thanks again.
