The test is working fine for me, and also those two lines work fine in the Chrome debug console from the os gridref page.
Can you follow the stack trace back to see where the error was thrown?
Otherwise, are you working in the browser, or in Node? If browser, I suggest downloading the os gridref page, confirm it works, then strip out the bits you don't want. If Node, I suggest cloning the repo, confirm npm test works, then strip out the bits you don't want.
