If Clojerl uses atoms to represent keywords, these would lose their capability of having metadata associated to them. This could be a real issue for some systems, although I haven’t seen that much use of metadata for keywords. A quick glance over most of the uses of with-meta using corssclj.info shows that most if not all usages are not applied to keywords.
