In June 2021 I made a number of corrections to the colourmap path specifications. I realised that I had erroneously specified some colourmaps paths as piecewise linear rather than a spline. Visually one generally did not notice much difference but it was certainly not ideal. This would probably account for the most of the differences you are seeing. I think I may also have fixed the output of the palettes to 3 decimal places as anything more is fairly pointless
In Dec 2020 I added a new linear map L20/'Gouldian' which was my attempt to generate something a bit better than MATLAB's Parula. I now use this as my standard linear map. see https://colorcet.com/userguide/index.html#gouldianparula
In November 2020 I added C6, a six colour cyclic map which I find quite attractive. and C7 a new 4 colour cyclic map
See https://colorcet.com/userguide/index.html#cyclic
I think those are the main changes in recent years. Hope that helps

I also added another rainbow map 'R4' which is brighter and superficially more attractive however I do not recommend it. See 'Beware of Vivid Colours' https://colorcet.com/userguide/index.html#rainbow
