@cotedm What does each part in the version signify ?
For 3.0.0 release, is this correct :
CONFLUENT_MAJOR_VERSION = 3
CONFLUENT_MINOR_VERSION = 0
CONFLUENT_BUGFIX_RELEASE_VERSION = 0
CONFLUENT_DEB_VERSION = 1
The problem is that we need different versions for install process:
- The repo list needs major.minor version
- The package needs major.minor.bugfix-debian version.
What do you suggest we use ?

@arrawatia yeah that's correct basically. The extra tag for deb is the "debian revision"
I'm ok with what you have in the last comment, it makes sense. I just didn't like 3.0 as a major version since it's really a minor version.
