There is now a librdkafka.spec file in the c++_configure branch.
Also have a look at this:

Hey @winbatch, you are doing RPM packaging of rdkafka, right?
Can you verify that the spec file in rpm/ is usable for deployment needs?
It should be, I just want a second opinion on it.

We don't use rpms anymore- we have a proprietary distribution system using
AFS.
