File -> Import missing in spreadsheat about cryptpad HOT 4 CLOSED

Concept

I think it would be good to differentiate between upload and import. Cryptpad has the ability to upload arbitrary(?) documents into it's drive. I understand that this is only possible as registered user.

"Import" functionality, I would guess, is a little different than uploading a document to the drive. I would also assume that it happens client side, so the document to import is never uploaded, only the current spread sheet's content (in this case) is filled with the data from the imported document. That is a different thing than uploading and storing it unmodified. It is more like a convenience feature. Unregistered guests could, in theory, import all that data manually into the spread sheet, though being cumbersome. That brings me to a conceptual question here: What is the rational behind not allowing imports for guests?

"File storage unavailable for images/videos/PDF/etc…" -> somehow implies that File storage (in terms of upload) is available for xls, doc and the like. More importantly it is not mentioned that import is not available.
How about changing the wording here? Sth. like Spreadsheets, [insert possible document types], etc. can be created, edited and exported, but not uploaded or imported"

Thanks alot for the answer. I now tried not as guest, but as registered user on the instance. Then the import option is available. May this be a configuration option, which disables import for non registered users or is it always the case that import is not available for guests?

It has never been possible to upload document to CryptPad as a guest. It's a normal and intended behavior.
