Debian compiling adjustment about mysql-udf-http HOT 4 OPEN

Sorry, the comment is not completely right either.  here are adjusted script:

make sure depandencies are installed:
apt-get install mysql-server
apt-get install make
apt-get install gcc
apt-get install libmysqlclient-dev
apt-get install pkg-config


then,  go with the adjusted config

ulimit -SHn 65535
wget http://curl.haxx.se/download/curl-7.21.1.tar.gz
tar zxvf curl-7.21.1.tar.gz
cd curl-7.21.1/
./configure --prefix=/usr
make && make install
cd ../

echo "/usr/lib/mysql/" > /etc/ld.so.conf.d/mysql.conf
/sbin/ldconfig
wget http://mysql-udf-http.googlecode.com/files/mysql-udf-http-1.0.tar.gz
tar zxvf mysql-udf-http-1.0.tar.gz
cd mysql-udf-http-1.0/
./configure --prefix=/usr --with-mysql=/usr/bin/mysql_config
make && make install
cd ../

debian system split mysql into different parts to reuse its libs. therefore, 
installation folder is 
/usr/lib/mysql/plugin/

is failing for me on the first line:
echo "/usr/lib/mysql/" > /etc/ld.so.conf.d/mysql.conf

But this would just append "/usr/lib/mysql/" to the end of the mysql.conf file 
anyway .. right?

added it manually (without using 'echo')
now I can get all the way to the make && make install
However I get a failure there now, after the line:
/usr/bin/install -c .libs/mysql-udf-http.so.0.0.0 
/usr/lib/mysql-udf-http.so.0.0.0

error is: cannot create regular file `/usr/lib/mysql-udf-http.so.0.0.0': 
Permission denied

I had to use, for Ubuntu 12.04

./configure --prefix=/usr --with-mysql=/usr/bin/mysql_config 
--libdir=/usr/lib/mysql/plugin/
