Figured this out already. If you have workflows that are completed, and then do any code changes to move files around, this will fail because the deserialization attempts to look at the class location to determine the type.. So I had Myproject1.MyWorkflow, and I moved it to Myproject2.Myworkflow. This caused the GetWorkflowInstances to fail because the type lookup failed...
from workflow-core.
