Hi Charles,
earlier versions of the code were designed for 2.5 and higher and the "master" branch only works in 2.5 or higher - there is a 2.3 branch/version in git which works fine in 2.4 - this version is also in the plugins db on moodle.org for 2.4 - thanks.

Thanks Dan, I was misled by the documentation at http://docs.moodle.org/23/en/Attendance_module. I'll go give that a look.
