Belatedly: that's actually a good idea. All the code needed to do it is still there from the sqlite days. The only problem is that the new files will not be backward-compatible with older versions, and I know there are third-party users who parse flux files.

Maybe adding a conversion tool to go between the two formats would work? Users who get files of the new format could then just convert them to the old.
