@cech12 , Sorry. I found this person Carsten Orthbandt on resume.
1998 - 2006 Founder and Development Director at SEK Berlin, Technology Lead for "Wiggles" (Innonics) and "ParaWorld" (Ubisoft)
Ok. But i cant understand what need pathDiff current game Wiggles.
Or develop a new tool for follow up on change files?

cech12 avatar cech12 commented on July 2, 2024

Yes, Carsten Orthbandt is one of the developers of Wiggles. And he gave the tip to use the patch diff format for the DigglesModManager. Nothing more. ;)

Apply algorithm diff for files, did I understand correctly?

cech12 avatar cech12 commented on July 2, 2024

I don't know, if I understand you correctly.

This Issue is about to replace the self invented file change format (the "$start", "$replace", "$with", ...) for Diggles mods with the standard patch diff format.

I see there some problems (or better: challenges^^) for the implementation.

  1. The mod settings, where some values could be adjusted or some replacements could be deactivated. The patch diff format does not support that. So there have to be a step before.
  2. The different Diggles language versions should be supported.

Ok.
For develops\modding diff patch - good.
For users diff patch uneed or useless. Use old method($start, $replace...).
Modding use diff-patch -> tranfser for old method($start...) for DigglesModManager?
And game Wiggles publish in github?

cech12 avatar cech12 commented on July 2, 2024

The patch diff format is not used by users, because they only click buttons in the DigglesModManager. It would be a better (and sharper) solution for the mods and maybe faster for the "Let's Mod"-funktionality of the DigglesModManager. So for the mod developers it could be an enhancement.

If it should be implemented the old method ($start...) has to transformed to the patch diff format. (in mods and DigglesModManager)

This repository has nothing to do with the game wiggles itself!

I think this enhancement will never be implemented. So, I close this issue.
