I'll be honest, this is something that is going to be very hard to fix. With Steam skinning there is a way to specify "Do this only for Mac users" but there is no "Do this only for *nix users" there is only "Do this for Non-Mac users"... so if I fix this for Nix then it will break it for Windows.
I will need to experiment to work out the best way to get it working for both.

Whoops, My mistake. Here it is with the correct fonts. Was the glow around the words for the tabs recently added?

Yea I was wondering why they arent dark anymore if they arent selected. Maybe another bug?

I just updated the theme and installed the font from FontFabric as advised in the README. Since then the issues explained above are gone (at least for me), so I'll close this issue.
