Feature - Decreased range at night about diwako_dui HOT 6 OPEN

For this I would just look for the current ambient light of the world. That means ignoring flashlights, lamps or other light sources that are not the sun or moon. That would mean something like 0 for total darkness and 1 for full daylight. (Maybe get overcast into that as well?)

As settings I would suggest just a slider (0 to 1) to set the minimal possible darkness modifier. Meaning if it is set to 1, that feature will basically do nothing, if it is set to 0 it does full effect on it and at night you will notice the difference.
Something like 0.5 means, you cannot be affected for half the range or below.

How does that sound?

Not OP -- but that sounds good to me! I've personally been trying to find some performant way to at the very least "reveal" people if you are personally pointing a flashlight beam at them, and if I find that I may post it here as well.

As it looks like right now, DUI v1.8.0 might be released before the Arma v2.0.0 release. Then with Arma v2.0.0 we will add stuff with the getLightingAt into the next DUI update
