Hi,
The COMPRESS_CSS_HASHING_METHOD is only needed for the default CSS filter, because it parses the CSS file and adds a querystring to all URLs it detects in CSS files. Such a behavior is not present for JS files and so isn't needed.
This is different from the core behavior of compressor, which concatenates files into a single one, that is always using content and doesn't need to be tweaked. Out of the box this will work as you'd expect on multiple servers if you use offline compression (see https://django-compressor.readthedocs.io/en/stable/scenarios.html#offline-compression).
