For all English inputs, including contractions, Epitran relies on Flite (specifically the lex_lookup program from Flite). lex_lookup outputs ARPABET and Epitran converts this to IPA. The problems here have to be problems with Flite and may follow from errors in the pronouncing lexicon that Flite uses (CMUDict). This is almost certainly true of the first error, but /ɑɹənt/ is an acceptable alternative pronunciation of aren't. I'm not sure about the second one. lex_lookup returns "(eh1 v r iy0 ax0 n ax0 z)", which doesn't make much sense. The best course of action might be to bring this up with the Flite maintainers.
