Any update on this? I'we been trying to user hostapd with no luck on 3.8 debian

Unfortunately not :-( The only way how get my system working was to remove the driver (and replace the device by traditional accesspoint attached to local ethernet). Since then my system is up&running without any problem for more than 3 weeks. So the problem seems to be in the driver (or HW) - I just wonder if I can do anything to help with the analysis...

Well u progressed way farther than I did. I have failed to run hostapd with this. I received nl80211 driver initialization failed errotr then tried to compile it from source and only got incompatibility issues with nl80211. I wonder how you managed to run it.
