I just ran into the same problem. Perhaps it will suffice to:

    endings = None

At the start of open_csvfile? And add a test.

@edcrewe looks like this error type was cleaned up in #70, but I just installed 2.9 and getting this error during a simple test model import. Any ideas if this is still outstanding or if not pushed yet? Using django=1.9.13 currently...

Thanks for the heads up.

I had failed to test properly, when I recently added the --bulk=True option to speed up large CSV imports in 2.8
This that was actually unrelated to the original issue here. But caused a similar bug of an uninitialised variable (models).
I have fixed it and released 2.10 with the fix.
