I'm running into the same issue when trying to upload a csv file (everything is uploading fine to the server). I've tried this setup for 1.3 and 1.4 but get the same error.

I have the same problem. Running Django 1.3.

I have the same problem on Django 1.4.1.
Apparently SVImportAdmin.save_model calls csvimport.setup without specifing the charset parameter
from django-csvimport.
I fixed this issue by replacing charset
with charset=None
on line 104 of csvimport.py. It looks like all of the code anticipates charset
being None
, but I'll update this if I run into any issues.

Apologies that this bug has hung around so long. I fixed it in the last release, over the weekend.
The issue was as Whitty says, the charset argument was added to the command line but not handled for the admin UI version. I have now added the field so that a charset can be specified if the auto-detection is not accurate.
This fixes the admin import.
