Right now the column attribute is mandatory for nested queries so the easiest 
fix is checking that it is provided.

Issue reopened and change rolled back, as column attribute is not mandatory in 
nested selects (you can select a full table if you want).

My fault. Column attribute IS mandatory for nested queries. If there is no 
column it does not work :)

So the fix was right. 

Reapplied in r4752.
