Route transitions are not implemented in ember-animated. It's focus is lower level, on components only.
I intend to refactor liquid-fire so it uses ember-animated, and keep the existing liquid-outlet and transitions.js system for route-level transitions.
At present there's no reason you can't use both together, if the overall code size is reasonable for your app (it will get smaller when most of liquid-fire gets replaced by calls into ember-animated).
