I implemented the following functions:

It is now available in the master branch.

Preql is lacking in I/O operations, but it's mostly because I haven't got around to it yet, and not by design.

There is already an import_csv function that reads from a file.

I could just add the functions read_file, read_json and env_vars (names pending)

Would that resolve your issue?

(In which case, an error would be raised for a missing key in the json/env)

yes that would be great thank you! I wasn't aware of the existence of import_csv (I obviously didn't search for it)
