It works if you define f not as a local variable but as a static method of a separate class like this:

using System;
using System.Diagnostics;
using System.Linq.Expressions;
using Serialize.Linq.Serializers;

public class Program
{
	public static void Main()
	{
		Expression<Func<object, object>> exp = x => Functions.F(x);
		var expressionSerializer = new ExpressionSerializer(new JsonSerializer());
		var serialized = expressionSerializer.SerializeText(exp);
		Console.WriteLine(serialized);

		Expression<Func<object, object>> actualExp = (Expression<Func<object, object>>)expressionSerializer.DeserializeText(serialized);
		Debug.Assert(exp.ToString() == actualExp.ToString());
		Debug.Assert(exp.Compile().Invoke("2") == actualExp.Compile().Invoke("2"));
	}
}

internal class Functions
{
    public static object F(object x)
    {
        return x;
    }
}

I have some time over the holidays; will have a look. Thanks for the issue and using the library.

Even tough Func<object, object> statements look like expressions, they are not expressions. So they cannot be serialised.
The workaround shown by @oahrens is also not a equivalent to the problem because it is only using a call expression that may or may not be the same after deserialisation.
