Can we enable user/pass only login? about compreface HOT 4 OPEN

I notice that the application requires the user to signup with F. Name, L. Name, email etc. If this is a selfhosted application, is it possible to just create a local username and password for login? Why does it require the additional details?

I think either reason is fine. I guess I would ask...why not? Why would I need to provide all that data when only 2 fields would suffice (username/password). Hope that makes sense.

Same question. It's alarming and made me pause for a bit to make sure this wasn't some subscription / online service.

I will explain why we created it in a such way.
In the beginning, CompreFace was totally internal tool. So some requirements were created by the security team of the company.
The registration process and toles system were part of these requirements. And it still a great part of the product if it is used by big companies, or at least by several people.
After this issue was posted, we created a task in Jira to add "simple registration" mode.
But it is not the priority for several reasons:

1. We can't just remove the old security, as it's still a requirement.
2. To add a new mode, we need to make quite a lot of changes on both UI(not only registration process, but also how to add users, how to display them, change profile functionality, etc.) and server-side (now these fields are required in DB tables, should we make it optional for both versions or have migrations...).
3. This functionality really doesn't affect the functionality of the product. Yes, it is frustrating, but you need to do it only once...

Still, if anybody wants to contribute and make such a "simple registration" mode, we will be happy to merge it. Again, the only requirement is that the user should be able to enable/disable it, as we can't drop support of secure mode.
