@Raynos the law is meant to be specifying associativity. The law you showed would only be true for a commutative semigroup. A normal semigroup is not commutative so allows:

[1].concat([2]).concat([3])
// [1, 2, 3]

[2].concat([3]).concat([1])
// [2, 3, 1]

@pufuwozu I think mentioning that the law is "the law of associativity" and then showing that array example would make it a lot more obvious what is going on.

In fact generally naming the laws helps with communication of ideas. I think "of(a).chain(f) is equivalent to f(a)" is the left identity law but I'm not sure.
