I think I am getting these errors because of possibly being blacklisted from pingomatic. With the testing we were doing, we may have over stepped a bit. Hopefully it isn't permanent. I tested with another directory and things seem to be working fine. I guess this error is because it doesn't like what it got back from the directory.
Any idea on how to get a hold of pingomatic to correct this mistake?

does this error occurs only with pingomatic ?
I don't think they blacklist people, but maybe...
With your traceback, I can do something to handle this error correctly.

I have reproduced the problem with pingomatic.
Maybe it's due to local configuration, but I have fixed the error handling in 9ad17df

I suppose it could be a config issue. However, it was working, then just stopped. I have since changed the ping on save to false and have to manually ping the directories. This way during initial edits it's not constantly pinging the directories.
I will let you know if I still have problems.
