I tried updating my gems, and after a few updates this seems to work again now. I was a version behind on a couple things.
sudo gem update pilot
sudo gem update spaceship
I also made sure to use the full qualifiers, since I have multiple users and multiple apps.
pilot builds --apple_id DDDDDDDD -u [email protected]
from pilot.

The code you posted above didn't use the latest version of spaceship. Could you run it again using the updated version? Do you have a Gemfile? If so, you should run bundle update instead of gem update

I had the same problem yesterday, and solved it by upgrading to latest spaceship.
