Long posts broken into short for twitter bug about moa HOT 10 CLOSED

@davidcelis I've run into problems when that limit is at 280. Twitter rejects tweets sometimes and I don't understand why. I'll take another look at it though.

Hi, thanks for filing an issue. I think what might have happened is that the first piece failed to post to twitter and so only the second one came through. Normally the pieces are posted in order and they're threaded as replies. I'm sorry this happened!

I'll take a look at the logs and make sure moa can be more robust in this regard.

I found the toot and the 1st part was posted to twitter at 276 characters and here's what twitter replied with [{'code': 186, 'message': 'Tweet needs to be a bit shorter.'}] 😑

So I guess I have to assume the pieces need to be smaller…

So, Twitter just increased their limit to 280. Do you think there's something in there that can be worked with?

I had already been assuming 280 characters was ok so the fact that they rejected one that was 276 is weird to me.

I'm going to reduce the max size to 275 and I'll add a notification for that error so I can track it.

@foozmeat Just noticed the max size of 275; are there any plans to bump this back up to 280? i thought it was a bug when a mastodon post with 278 characters got split on twitter, but then i found this issue
