Strike that - it's not importing any colors in 7.0, actually. As a result, both themes end up looking the same as the NetBeans default theme. I've confirmed other themes still display correctly after import.

Thanks for the report, sorry about that. I don't think I tested importing with 7.0 final, it wasn't available when I put this together. I'll have a look when I get out of work today. I hope they didn't change the preference format.

Actually, I just imported it fine on a fresh copy of 7.0... have you gone into Preferences, Fonts & Colors, and chosen one of the two new themes from the dropdown? I'll update the install instructions accordingly either way.

Yeah, it just doesn't make any change in colors in the preview when I choose it from the dropdown. Oddly, other themes are importing without incident. I'll try wiping the installation to a totally clean preferences set and try again.

Unfortunately doing a full preferences wipe and trying again still didn't help. Out of curiosity--and I know it shouldn't matter--which platform are you running NetBeans on?

I'm running on OS X 10.6. When I change the theme in the dropdown, the preview does update. I'm wondering if there are additional required preferences that aren't included in this package. I'll have to download a few other themes and see if there are others set that are missing in mine. I'll have to check after work. Thanks for the troubleshooting.

Absolutely -- thanks for looking into this. The machine I'm having the problem with is running on Windows XP. Strangely enough, I tried on my laptop (OS X 10.6), and another machine at home (Windows 7), and it worked fine in both places. However, I did notice that, upon extracting the zip file from GitHub, the app I use at home for unzipping gave me a few warnings about some of the full paths within the zip exceeding 260 characters due to github throwing an extra level or two of repo+commit folders. I'm wondering if the built-in unzipper in XP at work is giving me grief for that reason, and not unzipping some of the files. Will check when I return to the office tomorrow - but at least this narrows things down.

That's as likely a culprit as any, good idea.

I understand how work is sometimes locked down... are you able to try unpacking it with a different utility, like 7zip? I've had nothing but good experiences with it and it's cross-platform. If it works using a different utility then we know enough to add some more documentation to the README. If I have time tonight I'll fire up an XP VM and see if I can duplicate the issue using the stock archiver.

Looks like this was the issue after all. I downloaded the github-generated zip again, unzipped it on a Linux machine, zipped the config directory back up, then copied the new zip file back over to my workstation and imported into NetBeans using that one. It worked! Thanks again for checking into this.

Glad to hear it, I'll add this as a known issue to the docs. Thanks for all your help troubleshooting.
