I think you're just missing the dependencies, although for me this occurred when linking rather than compiling, so it could be a path related issue.
I think it should be from either the or libglu1-mesa-dev
package.
Try installing this (and the runtime package) and hopefully it should work. On Ubuntu this would be:
sudo apt-get install libglu1-mesa libglu1-mesa-dev
You may also need a glut install such as freeglut3
sudo apt-get install freeglut3 freeglut3-dev
We should probably provide clear instructions on how to install / use the software on windows and linux in readme.md

The dependencies should ideally be packed into the include
and libs
folder of FLAME GPU.

We should specify exactly which library discrepancies are required as it will not be practical to package up the GL ones.
