I changed line 1101 on movie.c
from
if ((error = system (pre_file))) {
to
if ((error = system ("/home/<user>/Code/gmt/animation/animation1/anim_01/movie_preflight.sh"))) {
and it worked. movie_preflight.sh was executed and the code stopped at a further point:
$ ./animation1.sh
sh: 1: movie_master.sh: not found
movie [ERROR]: Running script `movie_master.sh` 00 returned error 32512 - exiting.
It's the same error again, but for a different script. There is something wrong when executing a script using system(), I'm not sure if this is a problem in my machine or in the code. Does anyone have a clue?

I think I may have made the assumption that the current directory is in your path. If you want to experiment, try to test system ("bash movie_preflight.sh") instead since when executed we are in the right directory.

It works when I use system ("bash movie_preflight.sh")
, however the same work around doesn't work for movie_master.sh
.
I changed line 1421 from
sprintf (cmd, "%s %*.*d", master_file, precision, precision, Ctrl->M.frame);
to
sprintf (cmd, "%s %*.*d", "movie_master.sh", precision, precision, Ctrl->M.frame);
but I still receive
$ ./animation1.sh
sh: 1: movie_master.sh: not found
movie [ERROR]: Running script movie_master.sh 00 returned error 32512 - exiting.
