It should be right path to your node_modules dir path.resolve(__dirname, '../node_modules/vuejs-datatable/')

What do you mean exactly by adding the rule in the config ?

IMHO, the trans-scripting to old syntax is the responsibility of the App developer, not modules. Modules, for many reasons, should use recent syntax & features. Then, when bundling the Application, transscripters or compilers (like babel) take care of the transform to pre-ES2015 syntax.
