This is expected. You are able to setup the app without database.
To create a match group. Click on the settings icon in the top menu.
Then login with the login credentials setup in the config.json.
On this screen you should be able to create a match group.
After that you are able to create a match.
I just tested this with the v1 version from GitHub and worked.
If you are having other problems please let me know.
