test_large_N[268435456]
allocates 3 GiB of memory. test_large_N[536870913]
allocates 6 GiB. I suggest skipping these tests on 32-bit platforms.

That's what I did in Fedora package, but I'd appreciate it if you could implement that skipping in the test code. Additionally, /tmp
is a tmpfs
file system on many distributions (e.g. Fedora), so it ends up filling up memory and causing swapping on systems with 8GB or less memory. Shall I open a separate issue for that?

I do not have access to any 32-bit systems on which to test your suggested fix. GSD is open source and I would gladly accept a fix to this via pull request.
Use the --basetemp
argument to pytest
to generate test output files in a directory of your choice. See the pytest documentation for more information.
