Apparently not in 2019 either...

I agree with the original report. "Europe" as a political reality (EU) today should
be
displayed in your app. Keep up good work.

Add the possibility to handle all subdivision codes in ISO-3166-2. Not only the first-
level in each country

What's the point of having fragmented views of Europe (# 154 - (Northern Europe) # 155
- (Western Europe) # 039 - (Southern Europe)) and not be able to visualize Europe as
a whole? This to me reflects Americans' poor awarness of geography.
WE NEED EUROPE AS A REGION!!!!!!

This seems like an important feature, as currently it's not possible to show a large
map of all of Europe this or the using the chart API (chart api limits size)

Please add EU to the region selection.
Because the European Union is not a country, it is not included in ISO 3166-1. But
for practical reasons, the ISO 3166/MA has "reserved the two-letter combination EU
for the purpose of identifying the European Union within the framework of ISO 3166-1".

Will there be Easter Europe as well?
Possibly, could GeoMaps be prepared for custom maps? (City maps, or even completely
not real maps)

The way the geomap control is set up right now, I am not able to display all the countries
of Europe. There is no Europe setting that will display all European countries at once
(this would be ideal), and there also is no Eastern European region setting. So even
if I am resigned to using the regions of Europe, I still am unable to display all the
countries. Ideally, all the regions from the UN Geographical Regions standard should
be usable here, not just selective ones. There are several other missing regions, but
Europe is just a glaring omission. Please up the priority on this issue.

Please add an overall Europe view. In this region of the world, not only do many things
now occur Europe wide, but many small countries disappear when using the world view.
I'm amazed that after 2 years of requests on this feature that Google are still ignoring
it. Up the priority!!

The new, svg version, of geomap - geochart, has a Europe region: 150.
Please see the documentation at:
http://code.google.com/apis/chart/interactive/docs/gallery/geochart.html
The new region is not documented yet, but it will be added soon.

So Geochart is the new version of Geomap ?
Unfortunately, Geomap is much faster, as Geochart is svg-based...
But Geomap as Europe region 150 too, but it shows all Russia, so other
european countries appear really small...

Yes, GeoChart will be the new GeoMap. I know it is a bit slow now, but we are hoping
that would change.
Which browser are you using?
If you use GeoMap with 1.1 version, we already have the new Europe map there. It will
be available in 1.0 soon.

I'm using Firefox 4.0.1
I don't know which version of Geomap i'm using... how to choose ?
I'm just trying Geochart, it seems to work well, but it still need some improvements,
for example :
- no button to zoom in / out
- not possible (yet?) to add a third column to the datatable (to display countries
in french instead of english)

I'm answering myself to 1.1 version, juste use :
google.load('visualization', '1.1', {'packages': ['geomap']});
And i think region 150 is just what we needed :)

According to the UN listings (http://unstats.un.org/unsd/methods/m49/m49regin.htm),
Russia is part of Europe. Note that we show only the west side of Russia in that map.

I think the problem is there should be various options for grouping countries. When
ANYONE refers to Europe in a map they are not talking about Russia. Yes it's true a
potion of western Russia is considered part of the "European" continent but it is certainly
not part of Europe.
I'm doing a series of maps for our website and because of this one issue I think I
will have to abandon the whole project. It's really sad because the maps are so cool.
But frankly it is kind of unbelievable that despite the fact that this bug was reported
nearly TWO YEARS AGO, and is not yet fixed! I just don't understand how you could release
a map based product like this without it satisfying basic requirements (like displaying
Europe as a whole). Can you PLEASE please fix this? ALso note there are other sections
missing -- for instance where is Oceana - which should be a string combining AU, NZ,
PG, FJ, SB. Please let me know if you can fix this. [email protected]

Actually it's worst, if we could access/change the code it would be trivial to create
new groups.
In the meantime it's looking as a hacker job :-(

Green, I'm sorry to hear your frustration. I feel that the bug is fixed, as the original
request was for a region that includes Europe. If you search the web (http://tinyurl.com/4xgctsq)
for Europe maps - most of them will include those western part of Russia (and UN definition
includes it too).
Note that you don't have to have data associated with that region.
Moreover, if you feel that there is a better way to picture Europe - please provide
us with a concrete example and explain what exactly would you consider to be the correct
map for Europe.
As for Oceana - It is not yet documented, but please try out options['region'] = '009'.

can we have multiple regions combined in one geochart, e.g. north asia, east asia, southeast
asia, oceania? Right now there is no single region option available to cover all these
places, except the world.

setting of custom regions would be great! I created a map for a european sport federatrion
with region=150 (europe) - in sports, turkey is a member of european sport federations
(and as well azerbeijan and georgia). but the chart does not support this countries
with region=150, so I cannot use the map.
