Yeah, was trying to avoid the added confusion of turning a class name into a string, but it stays confusing because of the class namespacing. The whole __class__.__name__ really throws some beginner programmers trying to get to grips with python, as they see the class name in the error message but don't realize the apostrophes are important.
I'll probably change this one back to __class__.__name__ but still considering options...
