It was most definitely a bug. We must have messed up when we implemented support for arrays of posters.
The fix was simply a checkbox that needed to be unchecked.

But though it is fixed in development it will take some time before we do a release again. A workaround is to select a poster from a search result since after the file has a poster you can paste to it and add a custom one.
