pkgconfig should to go to /usr/share/pkgconfig about gtkd HOT 5 CLOSED

the gtk makefiles seem to use $(prefix)/share as the default datadir where prefix is /usr/local

Should we also use $(prefix)/share as the default datadir? pkg-config does search /usr/local/share/pkgconfig and /usr/local/lib/pkgconfig for pkg-config files.

pkg-config read usually:

• $(prefix)/$(libdir)/pkgconfig/
• $(prefix)/share/pkgconfig/

libdir is lib for 32 OS and lib64 for 64 OS
usually you put into $(prefix)/$(libdir)/pkgconfig/ when .pc file is arch specific
maybe put a var pkgconfigdir to be flexible

I was thinking about adding and datadir variable and setting it to $(prefix)/share by default, and then install the package config files in $(datadir)/pkgconfig. like so: d53e7af
