It's not a bad idea in general, but I don't quite see why haxelib should do that. We should keep our concerns separated.

a plugin system allow just that separation:

  • haxelib focus on its core feature
  • other implement extra features

of course this means extra work to implement and maintain such plugin system. And this is of course not an easy task but it could well be a very nice feature in the long run.

The extra features can already be implemented as haxelib run xxx .... No?

Yeah I agree with Andy... unit testing and other tasks can easily be run
with the existing "haxelib run", which is really like a plugin system
already.

If there was a use case that couldn't be achieved with this maybe we could
look at it

Yes "haxelib run" can be used for extra features. I will see how far it can go.
