This is a tough one. We have common uses for both msec and usec plots. jHiccup and most other monitoring tools, including load generators, web applications, and databases will all tend to use msec units in plots and reports. Messaging, trading, and the low latency things will tend to use usec units (and sometimes nsec units) in plots and reports.

I'm inclined to keep the default at msec (with the drop-down for selection) on the common plotting page linked from hdrhistogram.org. Since the page is not backed by server code (it's all javascript in your browser), you can easily make your own copy (e.g. on your desktop or personal site) with a changed default if you find that switching the default units to be cumbersome (a copy of it can be found here: https://github.com/HdrHistogram/HdrHistogram/blob/master/GoogleChartsExample/plotFiles.html ).

Question: Anyone know how to use a cookie to retain the default for a given browser? That would make it nice to use for everyone.
