What version of Nagstamon do you use? Statusbar in systray is not supported anymore since 0.9.10 because the Draw-anything-in-systray is going to vanish in GTK.

I'm using 0.9.9-1 (Ubuntu 13.04 "raring" package).
It's a pity that the "statusbar in systray" is going away... I find it
so convenient!

If you prefer to use 0.9.9 please see http://nagstamon.ifw-dresden.de/docs/security/ and disable update detection or upgrade your package as it is already fixed in Debian and thus should come to Ubuntu too.
