Very likely to be caused by stack overflows when compiling from/to nets. This is a recursive function, and JS's stack limit is not high enough for very big strings.
The good news is that we're on the process of freezing Formality's features, cleaning up the code (which grew organically and messy) and possibly implementing the runtime/compilers in other languages such as Haskell, on which stack won't be a problem.
On JS, this could too be solved by making the functions on the new runtime non-recursive (with a manual stack). Laborious but doable. I wonder if there is a tool that does that automatically? @bamorim
