Also because until you're just running tests you don't need to do anything, the database is always recreated fresh with a syncdb and you mess around with the models as much as you want without creating any migration..

Django 1.7 requires you to have migrations to create the test database correctly, unless you delete the migrations folder for your app.If you started the book on 1.6, you won't have a migrations folder for the lists app. Try creating one (with a dunderinit) and you'll see the behaviour I describe. 1.7 creates a migrations folder by default.It took me a while to get used to as well, but overall I think the 1.7 way where you use migrations right from the beginning is better. Certainly makes your second deploy easier.Hp
