from http-server.

in my case i had node and nodejs conflicting. i remove them both and reinstall nodejs
IMPORTANT - you will need to reinstall your npm packages
sudo apt-get --purge remove node
sudo apt-get --purge remove nodejs
sudo apt-get install nodejs
sudo apt-get install npm
npm install http-server -g
from http-server.
