I think this can only happen if the user has no timezone setting. I don't know how this happened in your case. But as long as I (or you) can't reproduce the issue it's very hard to find the problem. Does not seem like a calendar module issue.

I was thinking about the same problem when it show up, but the default time
zone was set in the Administration menu.
I'm going to try to get the same error on my localserver, I can't update to
1.1.0 on my current server because I need to work before my deadline.
