i would appreciate that. for situations like this, i would prefer to use a tool like ffmpeg to remove the periodic frame through math, and leave the fades in place

Confirmed: commenting it out produced the expected video.

There is now however a pronounced stepping effect to time. I assume that this is the 24->30 extra frame per 5 (it's about three times a second, which is what you would expect,) so I don't think that's on you. I think I need to figure out how to step this back down to 24 then upsample that, instead
