We should maybe ensure we have a good test harness prior to conversion. Blocked on #20

Once the automated unit testing is in place, I am more than happy to convert the code to free format.

I believe Jon Paris said he'd do this already.

It appears to my untrained eye that there is sufficient code for a few hands to work on this task without stomping on each other's toes. And the code review necessitated by pull requests gives multiple people the chance to discuss approaches taken in the submitted PRs (correctly running converted code is assumed, since PRs would include corresponding unit tests). And more opportunity for RPG newbies like me to learn from such discussion. :-)

What tool can convert to full-free format automatically? ARCAD? Most code is already in free format. I knew Rational Develop for i can only convert the C section. H/D are not touched.

I think @worksofliam has a secret weapon.

This might also be of use: https://sourceforge.net/projects/jcrcmds/
it helps convert H /D specs to a great extend if people have access to RDI

I think @worksofliam is right that this should wait until we have some sort of tests (preferably automated). So I think we're blocked on #20
