As for the original, you don't need that, the only requirement is you reach the castle gate before it's opened, and I just started a new game on the original to confirm that, so this is a discrepancy at least.
As for this remake, IIRC I tried multiple times including after talking with Richard.

- Unable to place bombs while pushing against a wall or object HOT 2
- Piece of Power will expire on changing floors in some dungeon transitions
- Playing the Ocarina does not kill Pols Voice
- On the Rapids Ride, Link can clip through the raft's side when walking onto it
- Ganon's Shadow can't be damaged by spin attack
- After falling off raised pillar into a pit, Link respawns inside pillar instead of on top
